In stage 8 of the Giro d’Italia, the Ecuadorian cyclist Richard Carapaz, leader of the Ineos Grenadiers team, did not achieve his goal this Saturday of placing in the top ten of the traditional cycling competition.
Carapaz finished this day in 38th place and in the general classification he fell from 11th to 12th position; and his partner from Ineos, the tricolor Jhonatan Narváez, was in 34th place and the overall is in 44th.
This stage, which took place in Naples (south), with a distance of 153 kilometers, was won by the Belgian Thomas De Gendt (Lotto). The Spaniard Juan Pedro López (Trek) kept the pink jersey of leader.
