The RFU revealed scenarios for the development of football in the country

The RFU considered three scenarios for the development of Russian football

The Russian Football Union (RFU) began to consider various options for the development of football in the country. It is reported by RBC.

The relevant materials were presented at a meeting of the RFU Board of Trustees, which took place on April 27. As part of the report, three main development scenarios were revealed.

The European scenario calls for friendly matches to be held on a regular basis until sanctions are lifted from the RFU, as well as domestic championship reforms aimed at increasing the number of matches to compensate for the lack of European cups.

As part of the Asian scenario, Russian football was proposed to be reoriented to participate in tournaments under the auspices of the Asian Confederation.

The third option is to focus on domestic championships and cooperation with friendly countries. The RFU assured that the choice will depend on the development of the situation with sanctions against Russian football.

On February 28, the International Football Federation (FIFA) and UEFA suspended Russian clubs and national teams from participating in competitions under their auspices. Teams have been excluded from all competitions, including qualifying for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
