Annemiek van Vleuten, Movistar runner, will be absent from Itzulia Women which will start on May 13. The Dutch cyclist suffered a broken wrist after falling during training, and she will be out of competition for at least a month.
Van Vleuten has already undergone surgery after the injury, and her medical team has assured that her recovery will be complete, but there are still no firm deadlines for her recovery. Even so, It is expected that the cyclist will be able to participate in the great tours that will be held in July: the Giro d’Italia and the Tour de France.
The management of the Movistar Team affirms that, in order to put the health of its runner ahead of any sporting objective, it leaves aside any planning for her return to competition for the time being.
