American mixed style fighter (MMA) Neil Magni said he still wants to fight Khamzat Chimayev. Reported by MMA Junkie.
The 34-year-old American said that he still demands a fight with an undefeated Chechen. He demanded a fight with Chimaev back in December 2020. However, Magni stressed that he changed his attitude towards a potential opponent after Chimaev’s performance at the Absolute Fighting Championship (UFC) tournament in Abu Dhabi. The Chechen forced the Chinese Li Jingliang to surrender in the first round.
Magni admitted that he had not previously taken Chimaev seriously. “He seemed to me an impudent newbie who needed to be taught a lesson. Now he has shown that he must be reckoned with, ”the American noted. He added that he expects to fight Chimayev in December, given that New Khabib hardly needs to recover from the fight with Jingliang.
Chimaev won his fourth UFC win in a row. The fighter hasn’t played in a cage for over a year. He won his first three victories in the promotion in 66 days, which is a UFC record.
