For the 34th round of the English Premier LeagueThe Manchester City visited Leeds this Saturday and won 4-0. Rodri, Aké, Gabriel Jesus and Fernandinho were the authors of the goals in the match that put the team coached by Pep Guardiola back in the lead of the tournament.
With 83 points, City are one ahead of Liverpool, which appears in second place after beat Newcastle early. Leeds, in turn, are in 17th place, the first outside the relegation zone – the team has 34 points, five ahead of Everton, but played two more games.
In the next round, Leeds visit Arsenal, at 10 am (Brasília) on 8 May, while the current leader of the national championship hosts Newcastle, on the same day, from 12:30. However, before that, Manchester City face a decisive confrontation against Real Madrid for the return of the semi-final of the Champions Leagueon Wednesday at 4 pm.
The game
At 12 minutes, the visitors opened the scoring. In a free kick, Phil Foden crossed in the head of Rodri, who appeared at the entrance of the small area to complete for the goal. Three minutes later, a strong clash of the head between Koch and Laporte stopped the game for a few minutes to attend to the players, both released to resume the match.
At the start of the second half, City needed just 8 minutes to extend the score. In another set-piece, this time a corner taken by Foden, Rúben Dias fixed his head for the young Nathan Aké to push towards the opposing goal.
In the 33rd minute of the second half, with the match all controlled by the visitors, Gabriel Jesus scored one more. The Brazilian striker received a beautiful assist from Foden and, face to face with the goalkeeper, scored. It was the player’s sixth goal in the last three games.
In the 47th minute, Fernandinho took it well from outside the area and gave final numbers to the confrontation. With the rout over Leeds United, the team led by Pep Guardiola again assumes the first position of the championship.
