Leipzig, Rangers, West Ham and Frankfurt open Europa League semi-finals

The semifinals of Europa League start to be played this Thursday, with the first round scheduled for 16:00 (Brasília time). Leipzig welcome Rangers from Scotland at the Red Bull Arena in Leipzig, Germany.

The Germans carry a certain favoritism among the remaining participants. In addition, they showed strength in the previous phase, dispatching Atalanta from Italy with the right to a 2-0 victory as a visitor. The teams drew 1-1 on German soil.

Rangers, on the other hand, passed Braga imposing themselves in Scotland with a 3-1 triumph, after a 1-0 defeat in Portugal. The Scots got it done sooner, however, when they eliminated one of the favorites in the cup, Germany’s Borussia Dortmund.

In the other semifinal, at the Olympic Stadium, in London, England, West Ham receives Frankfurt from Germany. The Germans were the biggest upset of the tournament in the previous phase, when they eliminated the barcelona with a 3-2 triumph at the Camp Nou. The Germans had secured a 1-1 draw at home.

West Ham was responsible for the elimination of Lyon, also with a surprising result. He overcame the French, at home, with a 3-0 triumph. The teams had drawn 1-1 in England.

The return round of the Europa League semifinals is already scheduled for Thursday of the next week, also at 16:00 (Brasília time), with the inversion of the field controls. The decision is scheduled for May 18, in Seville, Spain.
