The International Swimming Federation suspended Rylov from competitions for nine months.
The International Swimming Federation (FINA) suspended the Russian Evgeny Rylov from the competition. This was reported on the website of the federation.
By decision of the disciplinary commission, Rylov will not be able to take part in competitions under the auspices of FINA for nine months. The suspension went into effect April 20.
The disciplinary case against Rylov was opened on 23 March. The reason was the participation of a 25-year-old athlete in a concert-rally in honor of the Day of the reunification of Crimea and Sevastopol, which took place at the Luzhniki stadium in Moscow on March 18. FINA said that Rylov could violate the rules of the organization.
Earlier, FINA banned Russians and Belarusians from participating in the 2022 FINA World Championships, which will be held in the summer in Hungary. After that, the All-Russian Swimming Federation announced the removal of Russian athletes from all competitions under the auspices of FINA until the end of 2022.
At the Tokyo Olympics, Rylov won two gold and two silver medals. He also has two victories at the world championships.
