Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva spoke about her emotions during her performances at the Beijing Olympics. Interview with the athlete published in Cosmopolitan.
15-year-old Valieva noted that the doping scandal divided the Games into “before” and “after”. She admitted that in difficult moments for her, she lacked the support of her mother. Valieva added that the covid protocol was disturbing and knocked out of the usual routine.
Valieva won gold in the team competition at the Games, but the Russian team was not awarded due to a doping scandal involving an athlete. In the sample of the skater from December 2021, traces of the banned drug trimetazidine were found. Nevertheless, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) sided with the Russian woman, which allowed her to avoid suspension. She placed fourth in the individual tournament.
Valieva is a student of coach Eteri Tutberidze. On account of the figure skater – the gold of the European Championship-2022.
