Ecuador will host Switzerland and Stan Wawrinka in the Davis Cup World Group | Other Sports | Sports

The draw for World Group I of the Davis Cup has seen Colombia face Turkey, Ecuador host Switzerland, Mexico play Bosnia and Herzegovina and Peru and Chile face each other.

While Ecuador and Peru will have the advantage of playing at home, the venue for Colombia-Turkey and Mexico-Bosnia will be decided by draw.

The Ecuadorian team would thus receive the visit of Stan Wawrinka’s Switzerland, Olympic medalist, triple Grand Slam winner and former number three in the world.

The winners of these eliminatory rounds will access the play off of the 2023 Davis Cup, where they will play to get into the Finals of the competition.

In addition, Austria will play against Pakistan, Israel against the Czech Republic, Uzbekistan against Japan, Portugal against Brazil, Norway against India, Ukraine against Hungary, Slovakia against Romania and Finland against New Zealand.

The teams that lose their crosses will fight next year not to fall to World Group II.

The qualifiers will be played from September 16 to 17 or from September 17 to 18, depending on what each host decides. (D)
