the dutch Max Verstappen (Red Bull), last world champion, who won the Saudi Arabian Grand Prixthe second in the Formula One World Championship, said this Sunday at the Jeddah urban circuit, that his victory “was good”, but that it was “a tough battle”.

Verstappen, 24, added his twenty-first win in F1, the first of the year, by winning ahead of the two Ferrari drivers: the Monegasque Charles Leclerc – of the same age, author of the fastest lap this Sunday and leader of the World Cup – and the Spanish Carlos Sainz; in a race in which his Mexican teammate Sergio Pérez, who had started from pole position, finished fourth.

It was very difficult, especially at the beginning, but by changing from the medium to the hard tire I had more rhythm and I felt more comfortable”, commented the new idol from the Netherlands this Sunday on the fastest street circuit in the world, located on the shores of the Red Sea.

“At the end of the last safety car I had a lot of grip and when I had DRS enabled I was able to overtake (Leclerc) and win the race”, commented ‘Mad Max’ this Sunday in Arabia.

“It was a tough race, in which we kept a good fight and we play long term”, stressed the young Dutch star, who seven days ago, in Bahrain, had to leave on the penultimate lap, when he was running second.

“The Ferraris were faster in the corners and we were faster on the straights. I played it in that last corner and I was able to overtake Charles and thus win the race, something for which I am happy”, explained Verstappen after winning this Sunday in Jeddah. (D)
