Russian football urged to clean up riffraff

Former football player of the Russian national team Samedov urged to develop academies and educate coaches

Former midfielder of the Russian national team Alexander Samedov shared his opinion on the situation in domestic football. His words are quoted by Sport-Express.

“We need to remove all football riff-raff,” Samedov urged. He added that it is necessary to allocate funds for the development of academies and the education of coaching staff. In his opinion, there are not enough specialists in the country capable of working with children. “Very many do not correspond to the level,” the athlete emphasized.

Russian football has faced isolation: clubs and teams have lost the opportunity to play at the international level due to the restrictions of the International Football Federation and the Union of European Football Associations. The sanctions provoked the departure of foreign football players and coaches from Russia.

Samedov is known for playing for Moscow, Lokomotiv, Dynamo and Spartak. From 2011 to 2018, he was involved in games for the Russian national team. Together with the team, he reached the quarterfinals of the 2018 World Cup.
