Rocked by a rout over Bayern, Borussia Monchengladbach beats Bochum by Alemão

After applying a historic 5-0 rout on the Bayern Munchen, last Wednesday, for the second round of the German Cup, Borussia Monchengladbach won again this Sunday, this time for the german championship. The team got the better of Bochum by scoring 2-1 at Borussia-Park.

The home team went through moments of instability in the season, occupying, until then, the bottom of the Bundesliga table. With the three points added, Monchengladbach’s team returned to winning the competition after two games and moved up to 10th place.

With extensive control over Bochum, 14th place, the team led by coach Adi Hutter defined the victory in the first half. After just 12 minutes, French striker Alassane Plea took advantage of Joe Scally’s precise cross and opened the header. Close to the break, Jonas Hofmann scored Borussia’s second and last by facing the opposing goalkeeper, finishing with force in the opposite corner.

Near the end of regular time, Bochum still managed to reduce the disadvantage on the scoreboard. In a free kick at the entrance to the area, Danny Blum hit the right angle and gave the opposing goalkeeper no chance to reach the ball.

The 10th round of the Bundesliga also featured a 4-1 rout by Augsburg against Stuttgart this Sunday. The match was held at the SGL Arena in Augsburg.
