Figure skating coach Inna Goncharenko commented on the performance of Russian figure skater Alena Kostornaya at the second stage of the Grand Prix series in Vancouver, Canada. Izvestia quoted her as saying.
“Indeed, we see how the judges fell out of love with Kostornaya. But is Kostornaya herself not involved in this? In my opinion, she did a lot. Now she needs to understand what she is fighting for and how she is going to achieve her goals, ”- said the figure skater Goncharenko, who lost her love for the judges.
According to the results of the Canadian Grand Prix, Kostornaya took the third place, gaining 214.54 points. Her compatriot Kamila Valieva became the winner with 265.08 points. She set two world records: in the free skating program and in total points in women’s single skating. The second place was taken by another Russian woman Elizaveta Tuktamysheva with 232.88 points.
Kostornaya is the European champion and winner of the Grand Prix finals. She achieved these awards while training under the guidance of Eteri Tutberidze. The athlete spent the 2020/2021 season at Evgeni Plushenko’s academy and could not qualify for the world championship. This season she returned to Tutberidze.
