Eight Maradona doctors to stand trial for negligent homicide

The doctors of former Argentina footballer Diego Maradona have been charged with negligent homicide. It is reported by France24.

The prosecutor’s office demanded that the personnel involved in the treatment of Maradona be brought to justice. Law enforcement officials said that eight doctors were negligent and left him without help during home therapy. Their actions were rated as inadequate and reckless. If the defendants, who include a nurse, a psychologist, a psychiatrist and a neurosurgeon, are found guilty, they face between 8 and 25 years in prison.

Maradona died on November 25, 2020 at the age of 60. The cause of death was acute pulmonary edema caused by heart failure. The police suspected the negligence of a personal doctor, as well as a nurse on duty on the day of Maradona’s death, and launched an investigation.

According to doctors, Maradona died from 4 to 6 am on November 25 in a dream, but this information contradicts the actions of the doctors who arrived on the call and the testimony of witnesses. So, the doctor, who first came to Maradona, pronounced him dead at 13:15, before that they tried to resuscitate him for 45 minutes.
