This Sunday, Bordeaux and Reims had a duel at the bottom of the table for the 12th round of the French Championship. Playing at home, Vladimir Petkovic’s team won 3-2, in a comeback, with goals from Yacine Adli and Jimmy Briand (twice). Hugo Ekitike and Bradley Locko scored for the visitors.
With the result, Bordeaux is in 16th position, with 12 points. Oscar Garcia’s team is close behind, with 11.
In the next round, Reims host Monaco, next Sunday, at 11 am (GMT). Bordeaux, in turn, plays at home against Paris Saint-Germain, on Saturday, at 17:00 (GMT).
Reims opened the scoring in the 37th minute of the first half. Hugo Ekitike, after a free kick, dominated inside the area and opened space for the kick, putting the ball in the back of the net. There was still a review of the VAR for a possible offside in the bid, but the goal remained validated.
In the second stage, the visitors expanded after 18 minutes. Bradley Locko received a pass, advanced to the entrance of the area and covered the goalkeeper to puff up the nets.
At 28, Bordeaux declined. Yacine Adli received a cross in the area and kicked into the corner to score the goal. And the tie came soon 34, with Jimmy Briand, who was fired after free kick and sent to the nets.
And the turning point came in additions. The ball touched Reims’ Wout Faes’ hand inside the area, and the referee awarded a penalty after review by the VAR. Jimmy Briand went to charge and gave the victory to Bordeaux.
