The head of the All-Russian Federation of Rhythmic Gymnastics (VFHG) Irina Viner-Usmanova appreciated the work of the judges at the 2021 World Championships in Kitakyushu, Japan. Her words are quoted by TASS.
Wiener said that she has no complaints about the referees, as they did an excellent job in the all-around and individual event finals. In her opinion, this happened because judges from different countries worked, and the leadership of the technical committee did not interfere in the assignment of marks. The head of the federation stressed that she criticized the judges only after Dina Averina’s silver in the ribbon exercise.
After Averina lost in the ribbon exercise, Viner-Usmanova saw in refereeing a repetition of the situation that happened at the Tokyo Olympics. Then Averina lost to the Israeli Lina Ashram in the all-around final, although the latter dropped the object.
The Russian national team took first place in the overall medal standings of the World Championship. Domestic athletes won seven gold, four silver and two bronze medals. Most of the awards of the Russian national team were brought by the performances of Dina Averina. She has four gold medals on her account. The Russian woman became an 18-time world champion.
