The contest will be held under the endorsement of the American Boxing Confederation (AMBC) and the International Amateur Boxing Association (AIBA), and will end on April 2, it was indicated this Tuesday in a statement released by the Fedeguayas Press Department.
“We are here in Guayaquil for the tournament, on March 24, so make an appointment. This is going to be right here… so that they can see the best of this country, the best of Ecuador,” says Mina from the athletic ring of the Modelo Alberto Spencer stadium in the video posted on Instagram.
The Guayaquil boxer, who will compete in the 81 kg division, was considered in 2019 the greatest exponent of national boxing for his fifth place at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games and bronze at the 2017 Hamburg Absolute World Championship.
It was reported that the contest will have the participation of more than 450 athletes from 25 nations, who will compete for points to the Paris 2024 Olympic qualification process, in addition to the delivery of economic prizes to those who place in the first three places of the 25 categories. in dispute (13 for men and 12 for women). The gold medal winner receives $10,000; the silver medal, $5,000; and those who obtain the two bronze medals, $2,500 each.
According to the organizers, Ecuador will have two teams: a men’s team with nine boxers and a women’s team with eight fighters.
Among the registered countries are Argentina, Aruba, Bermuda, Brazil, Barbados, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Chile, United States, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Puerto Rico, Refugees, Dominican Republic , Saint Lucia, Saint Martin, Trinidad and Tobago and Ecuador.
The fights will take place on a double day, from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., starting on Thursday 24.
There are a total of 22 judges who will control the fights, with the collaboration of 10 official technicians duly accredited by the International Boxing Association. (D)
