In the second division, Brescia fires coach Filippo Inzaghi

Brescia, from the second division of the Italian Championship and currently in the fight for access to Serie A, announced this Wednesday the resignation of coach Filippo Inzaghi, with seven games remaining in the competition.

The club’s management had already planned to fire Inzaghi a few weeks ago, but only now announced the coach’s departure, according to the Italian press.

“Brescia Calcio announces that it has fired Filippo Inzaghi as head coach of the first team. The club thanks the coach for the work he has done and wishes him good luck in the continuation of his career.”

Brescia currently occupy fifth place in the second division, four points behind second-place Pisa. Only the first two teams advance directly to Serie A. The teams in the third to eighth position compete in a playoff to define the last one to gain access to the elite of Italian football.

Filippo Inzaghi, 48 and brother of Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi, joined Brescia earlier in the season after passing through Milan, Venezia, Bologna and Benevento.
