Roberto Hilbert is a former representative. He played as a midfielder and his greatest career success was playing for VfB Stuttgart. In the 2006/07 season, he played a major role in the first German championship in 15 years, won by his club. Then he played for Besiktas and Bayer Leverkusen. In an interview with “La Gazzetta dello Sport” he mentioned the best players he played against.
– The best footballer I have ever played with was. For me, he is probably the greatest footballer of all time. He was fast, strong and always smiling. I played against him when he was in and I was in Stuttgart. We didn’t do well (Stuttgart lost 1-3 – ed.), But I can say that it was a unique experience – admitted the German. He also highlighted Franck Ribery who was the best footballer he played against. – They play football because they are having a good time, not because it’s a job. They are happy that they are on the field and that they have the ball. They make a difference because they have something others can’t do
The former representative of Germany bluntly about the transfer market. They would be too expensive
Hilbert also commented on the contemporary conditions on the transfer market. According to him, the best players are paid so much that the stars of his time would have a chance to be transferred only after the contract expires. Why? Because they would be too expensive for anyone.
– Nobody compares to Ronaldinho and Ronaldo “Il Fenomeno”. I think the transfer market has developed in such a way that Ronaldinho and Ronaldo would be too expensive these days. If it cost € 222 million, the two of them would have cost even more. So much so that probably no one could afford to buy them. Although, surely someone would try – summed up.
Neymar’s transfer from Barcelona to 2017 remains an unbeaten transfer record. No other transfer has come close to the $ 222 million the French have paid Barcelona for the Brazilian. By comparison, Brazilian Ronaldo cost around 45 million euros when he moved from Inter Milan to Real Madrid. Ronaldinho, in turn, moved from PSG to Barcelona for around EUR 32 million.
