Thanks to an impressive run over, the horse Mohamed beat his rival Lukacu in the final stretch of the classic that took place on Sunday at the Miguel Salem Dibo racetrack. The test was run in honor of the famous coach of yesteryear of the Guayaquil turf, Segundo Luque Arias.
Mohamed confirmed that he is the best of the generation of national 2-year-old colts and he did it with tremendous onslaught in the last jump to win by a slight advantage over Lukacu, in the agreed race of 1,300 meters. He used the winner 1 minute, 21 seconds and 77 hundredths.
At the beginning of the competition, Massimo, Olivia María, Ran Rod, Lukacu, and Monterosso fought for the leadership; and last ran Mohamed and Eva Perón.
Mohamed’s climb was tremendous, who from the last place was overcoming rivals. But in the final stretch, when it seemed that Lukacu was already defeating everyone, in the defining 100 meters the leader had Mohamed’s comeback, who entered strongly from the outside, like a whirlwind, to snatch victory from him.
In the Samborondón bullring, after the classic, the tribute to the coach and trainer of riders from the 60s Segundo Luque Arias was paid. His son, Ricardo Luque, and more family members presented a trophy to the Tres Patines stable for Mohamed’s great triumph.

In the fourth race of the afternoon, the Peruvian Qué Sera, with a wise ride by Johnny Gihua, took the laurels in 1,100 meters. The one from Triple A stud Ecuador completed its course in a time of 1 minute, 07 seconds and 43 hundredths.
