Olympic champion Sotnikova said that the World Cup without the Russians would be boring to watch
Olympic champion Adelina Sotnikova appreciated holding the World Figure Skating Championship without Russian athletes. Her words are reported by Match TV.
“If you take the big picture, the World Cup was interesting because there were Russian athletes there,” she said. Sotnikova noted that domestic figure skaters set the bar high, so it would be boring to watch competitions without them.
Earlier, the President of the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR), Alexander Gorshkov, said that Russia was ready to create an analogue of the Grand Prix series. He stressed that various options for competitions for the next season are being worked out in connection with the sanctions of the International Skating Union (ISU).
On March 1, the ISU banned Russians from participating in competitions under its auspices. The organization explained that the decision was made on the basis of the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee. The ban affected figure skaters, skaters and short track skaters.
