Rafael Nadal called Andrei Rublev a more difficult opponent for Fritz who defeated him
Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal commented on the loss in the final of the ATP Masters 1000 series tournament in Indian Wells. His words are quoted on the website of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP).
In the decisive meeting, Nadal lost to the American Taylor Fritz with a score of 3:6, 6:7 (5:7). He noted that the opponent played excellent matches in the tournament, of which the Spaniard singled out the semi-final with the Russian Andrey Rublev. “It seems to me that his victory yesterday means much more than today,” Nadal shared. The Spaniard compared himself with the Russian and called him a more difficult opponent for Fritz.
Earlier, Nadal broke the historical record of the Swiss Roger Federer. He scored 954 wins in open-court matches.
At the end of January, Nadal defeated Russian Daniil Medvedev in the final of the Australian Open and won the 21st Grand Slam title. The Spaniard set a record by beating Federer and Novak Djokovic, who have 20 wins each.
