The Polish national team is leaving Oberstdorf with the best result this season of the World Cup. Piotr Żyła took second place in the Sunday competition and lost only to Tim Zajc. Thus, Żyła entered the fight for the small Crystal Ball and after two competitions in Oberstdorf he is fourth in the general classification, losing only five points to the podium. Now the last two individual competitions in Planica are ahead of the jumpers.
Dolezal selected the team for the World Cup in Planica. The same squad that was supposed to jump in Germany
Michal Dolezal announced the Polish national team for the last two World Cup competitions this season. Kamil Stoch, Piotr Żyła, Dawid Kubacki, Jakub Wolny, Paweł Wąsek and Andrzej Stękała were on this list. The same squad was called up for the competition in Oberstdorf, but Paweł Wąsek dropped out of the team due to a positive test for coronavirus. Therefore, Dolezal made an emergency appointment of Aleksander Zniszczol, who in Oberstdorf finished the competitions in 32nd and 28th places.
Two individual competitions and one team competition will take place in Slovenia. At the moment it is not known who will represent us in the team, but it will probably be known after Friday’s competition. Last year, the small Crystal Ball was won by Karl Geiger, who was ahead of Ryoyu Kobayashi and Markus Eisenbichler. At that time, the only Pole in the top ten was Piotr Żyła, who took 10th place.
The World Cup flying competitions in Planica will be held on March 25-27. The qualifications and competitions broadcasts will be available on TVN, Eurosport 1 and the Player platform. We invite you to follow the live coverage on Sport.pl and in the Sport.pl LIVE mobile application.
