Manager of UFC fighter Alexander Volkov said about the possible training in the US after the failure
The manager of the Russian mixed martial arts fighter (MMA) Alexander Volkov, Ivan Bannikov, commented on the failure of the heavyweight in the fight with Tom Aspinall at the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) tournament in London. The representative of the fighter gave an interview to the Ushatayka YouTube channel.
Bannikov said that the Volkov team will change the approach to the training process. In his opinion, the preparations in Moscow have a negative impact on the performance of the Russian. He admitted that for the next fights in the UFC Volkov will begin to train in the United States. In particular, he mentioned coach Firas Zahabi, who is based in the United States.
Bannikov added that he would like to see former UFC champion Daniel Cormier next to Volkov. The latter trains athletes at the American Kickboxing Academy in San Jose.
On March 19, Volkov was defeated by Aspinall in the first round. The British opponent forced the Russian to surrender by using the elbow lever.
Volkov was preparing for fights in Moscow. The Russian trained in the Strela Team gym.
