MMA fighter Shlemenko says Russians don’t give up as he describes Volkov’s loss in UFC
Russian mixed martial artist (MMA) Alexander Shlemenko described his attitude to the defeat of compatriot Alexander Volkov at the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) tournament. His words were heard in a video on the YouTube channel of journalist Alexander Lyutikov.
The 37-year-old fighter said that the behavior of an athlete caught in a painful hold depends on his mood. Shlemenko summed up the opinion with the phrase “Russians don’t give up.” He noticed that he also had fights where he fell for painful holds and preferred to endure. “The elbow becomes the size of the knee. You can’t bend it or unbend it. Everyone determines for himself, ”the athlete added.
Volkov lost to Tom Aspinall at the UFC in London. The opponent forced the Russian to give up in the first round by using the elbow lever.
Volkov suffered the tenth defeat in his career and lost for the third time, falling for a pain or choke hold.
