In the 1/8 finals of the Europa League, Russia was represented by Spartak Moscow. However, the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) decided to exclude Russian clubs from participating in European competitions, which is why Leipzig automatically went to the quarterfinals of the tournament, with which the red and white were supposed to play.
