Gustavo Alfaro is told that Spain can be Ecuador’s rival in Qatar 2022 and he does not rule out Germany or Belgium

Although the draw for the group stage of the Qatar 2022 World Cup will be held on April 1 in Doha and South America still has the last two dates of the Conmebol qualifier to play, the Spanish sports press anticipates that La Roja could have a rival against the Ecuadorian team.

The communicator Matías Palacios said in the program The beach bar TV that there is a possibility that a South American team “ends up playing with Spain or France or England.”

In this regard, Gustavo Alfaro, who was a guest in that space broadcast through Twitch, revealed that the day that Chelsea and Palmeiras played the final of the FIFA Club World Cup he analyzed Germany, Spain and Belgium as potential rivals of the Tri in the group round of the next World Cup event.

At the same time, he recognized that there is a difference that is visible between the teams from Europe and those from South America today.

“The difference exists because there is history, there is hierarchy, circumstances that ultimately set guidelines for the reason for things. I say that what we have to try to do is narrow that gap. Some internal issues of our performance that we have to deal with from a level up,” Alfaro said, citing the case of the call-up of the young midfielder Moisés Caicedo, who was 19 years old and had played a handful of games in the first division with Independiente del Valle.

Caicedo was a starter at the start of the World Cup in a match with Argentina in Buenos Aires and then with Uruguay in Quito.

In this context, the Argentine coach acknowledged that he has analyzed the potential rivals of the Tri in the Qatar World Cup. He mentioned Spain, Germany, Belgium and “top-tier teams.”

The Doha Convention and Exhibition Center will host the draw ceremony on April 1, in which the 32 participating teams will be drawn into eight groups of four.

The World Cup, which will be played from November 21 to December 18, will be played in eight stadiums that are less than an hour from the center of Doha, so fans will be able to attend more than one game a day at the start of the tournament.
