Switzerland will replace the Russian national ice hockey team in the Eurotour

The Russian national ice hockey team at the stages of the Eurotour will be replaced by the Swiss team in the next two years

The Swiss national ice hockey team will replace the Russian national team in the Eurotour. This was reported on the website of the Swiss Ice Hockey Federation.

In the next two years, at the stages of the Eurotour, the Russian team will be replaced by the Swiss team. Thus, this season the Swiss will play at the Beijer Hockey Games, which will be held from May 5 to 8. This tournament is part of the Euro Tour.

On February 28, the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) suspended the national teams of Russia and Belarus from participating in tournaments under its auspices. This made it impossible for the Russians to compete at the 2022 World Cup. In addition, Russia will not be able to host the Youth World Cup.

Similar decisions were made by various international sports organizations against the backdrop of a special operation of the RF Armed Forces in Ukraine. Domestic football clubs and national teams remained outside international competitions.
