World Athletics banned Belarusian athletes from participating in domestic tournaments
World Athletics has banned Belarusian athletes from participating in domestic tournaments. This is reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the organization.
“As long as the All-Russian Athletics Federation is limited in its rights, national competitions in Russia are held only with the participation of athletes from this country,” World Athletics said. The organization expressed the hope that ARAF will comply with these rules.
On March 1, World Athletics imposed sanctions against Russian and Belarusian athletes, removing them from participation in international competitions. Thus, athletes will not be able to compete at the 2022 World Championships in the USA, the World Indoor Championships in Belgrade and the World Race Walking Championships.
ARAF was suspended in 2015 due to persistent anti-doping rule violations. Restrictions do not allow Russian athletes to compete in international competitions without obtaining a neutral status.
