Medvedev’s first coach spoke about his emotionality on the court

Coach Pridankin remembered how Medvedev lost control of himself and sent the referee on the court

The first coach of Daniil Medvedev Ivan Pridankin spoke about the emotionality of the tennis player on the court. His words are quoted by Match TV.

“In his youth, Danya was very emotional. He reacted extremely painfully to refereeing mistakes – real or imaginary, when it seemed to him that the referees were helping the opponent, ”the coach shared. Pridankin noted that at such moments the tennis player lost control of himself.

Pridankin recalled how Medvedev sent a referee at the European Winter Team Cup, because of which the team could be removed from the match for third place. After the meeting, the referee told the Russian that he would not become a good player if he behaved like that. “And you will never become a good judge,” the coach quoted Medvedev as saying. He said that at present the athlete also enters into disputes with arbitrators, but at the same time he has become much more calm and restrained in showing emotions.

Earlier, during the semi-finals of the Australian Open, Medvedev entered into a skirmish with the judge. Medvedev was outraged that the father of his rival, the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, was telling him from the stands. “His dad can talk at every prank? Are you dumb? Can his father talk all the time? Will you answer my question? Look at me! I’m telling you!” Medvedev turned to the judge. For unsportsmanlike behavior, the Russian was fined $12,000.
