This Tuesday, the first teams outside the Brazil-Argentina axis secured their spots in the group stage of Copa Sudamericana. With duels between country teams, five teams advanced from the stage in the competition after the return games: General Caballero-PAR, Metropolitanos-VEN, Oriente Petrolero-BOL, Melgar-PER and Unión La Calera-CHI.

Opening the round, three matches started at 19:15 (Brasília time). In Bolivia, Oriente Petrolero beat Royal Pari at home, 3-0, with goals from Facundo Suárez (twice) and Leandro Zaspe. The aggregate score, considering the first game, was 6 to 2 for Oriente Petrolero, who advanced to the next stage.
In the Paraguayan clash, General Caballero received Sol de América and won 2-1, with goals from Juan José Heinze and Elías Aranda. The visitors’ goal was scored by Nildo Vieira. In the first game, General Caballero had already won 3-0 and, with that, qualified 5-1 on aggregate.
Still in the first half, in Venezuela, Metropolitanos beat Estudiantes de Merida at home, 4-0. The goals were scored by Robinson Flores, Chalis Ortiz, Luis Annese and Néstor Cova. The first match ended with a 2-0 victory for Metropolitanos, who advanced to the stage with 6-0 on aggregate.

Subsequently, two other games defined more qualified teams. In Chile, the confrontation between Unión La Calera and Ñubleense was open after the goalless draw in the first game. In the decisive match, however, Union La Calera won at home by 2 to 1 and advanced to the stage. Sáez opened the scoring and Cuevas widened for the home team. In the final minutes, Nicolás Vargas decreased, but did not avoid elimination.
In the Peruvian match, Melgar won at home 1-0 against Cienciano, with a goal from Bernardo Cuesta. With a 1-1 draw in the first game, the aggregate score was 2-1, guaranteeing Melgar’s classification.
