Amid the controversies off the field, the Chelsea play for Champions League, this Wednesday. The English travel to face Lille, at 17:00 (Brasília), in France, for the round of 16 of the competition.
Lille are looking to reverse their 2-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge. Coach Jocelyn Gourvennec stated that the French need to be more effective in attack to seek classification.
“We played well in the first game. We shared possession of the ball, but in attack we weren’t dangerous enough. We have to be more precise in the opponent’s midfield and force them to defend further back,” he said.
Chelsea are experiencing turmoil off the pitch after sanctions on the club’s owner, Russian Roman Abramovich. However, coach Thomas Tuchel focuses only on the match and praised the opponent.
“I think Lille played well at Stamford Bridge. They were very physical, they pressed high on the ground and they were brave. That all impressed me. We have to be careful,” he declared.
