Portuguese referee Pereira resigned as head of the refereeing department of the RFU
Portuguese referee Vitor Melu Pereira resigned as head of the refereeing department of the Russian Football Union (RFU). This was reported on the website of the organization.
The specialist’s contract with the RFU was terminated by mutual agreement of the parties. Ashot Khachaturyants, Chairman of the Judicial Committee of the Union, thanked the Portuguese for the work done. Pavel Kamantsev, Deputy Head of the Department for Referee Reform, has been appointed acting.
Pereira is an instructor for the International Football Federation (FIFA). His appointment to the RFU became known on September 23, 2021.
Pereira, 64, served in the 1998 and 2002 World Cup matches. At club level, he worked at the UEFA Cup final in 2002 and the semi-finals of the Champions League in 1999 and 2000.
