Havertz sympathizes with Chelsea: “I would pay for my travels”

With the financial difficulties experienced by the Chelsea, after sanctions against club owner Roman Abramovich, the Blues squad now has a limited budget for away games. So Kai Havertz said he would have no problem paying for his own travel.

“I would pay, no problem. Going to games is the most important thing. There are more difficult things in the world than if we had to take a bus to play away from home,” said the German striker at a press conference on Tuesday.

Havertz added that, despite the delicate situation, the club is prepared to face the challenges and used the last match against Newcastle as an example.

“The situation is not easy for players, clubs and fans. What we can do is play good football and try to get a smile from the stands. We showed at the weekend (1-0 victory over Newcastle) that we can deal with these situations. We have to focus on the games”, he said.

Chelsea have a decisive game this Wednesday against Lille, for the second leg of the round of 16 of the Champions League, away from home, at 17:00 (Brasília time). In the first match, the English won 2-0.
