Barcelona Sporting Club will have to pay almost half a million dollars to Jonatan Álvez, according to a proposal from the FIFA secretariat

The former bullfighter, double champion of Ecuador, demands $ 469,770.55 from the Guayaquil team as ‘compensation owed’, plus interest.

Barcelona Sporting Club will have to pay $ 469,770.55, as “compensation owed”, plus interest, to Uruguayan soccer player Jonatan Álvez, former Canarian striker and double champion with the bullfighters in Serie A in Ecuador, according to a proposal from the FIFA General Secretariat.

According to a document released on social networks this Friday, Álvez filed a lawsuit against Barcelona before the Dispute Resolution Chamber. Consequently, the FIFA General Secretariat proposes to resolve: “The defendant, Barcelona SC, must pay the plaintiff, Jonatan Daniel Álvez Sagar: USD 469,770.55 as remuneration owed plus 5% annual interest from 17 September 2021 and until the effective payment date. Payment (applicable interest included) must be made within 45 days after notification by means of a confirmation letter ”.

The page is dated September 26, 2021 and is addressed, on the one hand, to Álvez and Horacio González Mullin (lawyer), and, on the other, to the Canarian club.

The Uruguayan attacker did not continue in the bullfighting team this season. After his departure, he described as “lack of respect” that the Barcelona board, chaired by Carlos Alfaro Moreno, did not make him an offer to remain in the team. “I wanted to retire there and was willing to lower my salary, but they did nothing ”, declared the player in February of this year.

Álvez was yellow in two stages. He arrived in Guayaquil in 2016 and was Barcelona’s top scorer for the national title that season; recorded 20 touchdowns. In 2017, he was essential as a striker (six goals in ten games) for the Canarian club to advance to the semifinals of the Copa Libertadores. After leaving Ecuador at the beginning of 2018 for the Colombian Junior, and then for the Brazilian International, The Uruguayan dressed in yellow again in 2019. In 2020 he celebrated another star in Serie A.

Despite Álvez having been involved in cases of indiscipline, in January 2021 coach Fabián Bustos recalled about the striker that “it was never a problem” in the squad. “It is not problematic. The problems he has are towards himself, because he diminishes his performance by not being, perhaps (disciplined). He never had a problem with us. The time he didn’t make it to training we left him off the payroll, because we felt that it was disrespectful to some of the other guys that we had to take out for him to go. He took it in a very good way ”, declared the Argentine strategist earlier this year.

A report from the PKF firm with a cut-off to September 2019 revealed that Álvez received $ 49,940 a month in Barcelona. The high figure was not on par with the Uruguayan’s performance at the end of 2020, when his scoring contribution declined.

The debt of the Guayaquil club with respect to its former player also extended to the one that had as its creditor Torque de Uruguay. It’s about the team that owned the forward’s pass. The amount exceeded one million dollars and has also had to be assumed by the leadership of Alfaro Moreno. (D)
