Azerbaijani kickboxer Zaur Yusifov was killed in Baku
Azerbaijani kickboxer, ex-official Zaur Yusufov was killed in Baku. Report informs.
Yusufov was shot dead on March 14 in one of the markets in the Binagadi district of Baku. A criminal case has been opened on the fact of the murder. The suspect in the murder was detained by law enforcement agencies. The alleged motive is blood feud. The man is a relative of crime boss Emin Safarov, who was known as Emin 444.
In May 2019, Safarov was killed, the attacker inflicted numerous stab wounds on the man. The attacker was detained – he turned out to be Gasan Tagiyev. Later, Yusufov was arrested on suspicion of organizing a contract killing. In 2020, a trial took place, Tagiyev was found guilty of committing a murder. However, no evidence of Yusufov’s guilt was found. The ex-athlete was pardoned and released.
Yusufov became the world champion in kickboxing. He also worked in the State Migration Service of Azerbaijan.
