In the rain and in the midst of chaos: tickets for Ecuador vs. Argentina are sold in person in Guayaquil

There was no lack of winter rain or traditional chaos. Hundreds of people came from Sunday to line up outside the Alberto Spencer stadium, in Guayaquil, to buy tickets for the next match between Ecuador and Argentina, for the Qatar 2022 tie, an attractive duel especially for the classification of the Tricolor to the World Cup and for the presence of Albiceleste star Lionel Messi.

The order observed until Sunday night ended on Monday morning, when the doors of the av. of the Americas. Images from TV and social networks gave an account and reason for the chaos with which people tried to enter to line up on one side of the stadium and the Voltaire Paladines Polo Coliseum, even jumping the bars of the outside areadisrespecting the tacit initial disposition.

In the early hours, the line extended to the edge of the La Chemisse neighborhood.

The face-to-face sale of tickets comes after a collapse reported days ago by the Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF) in internet demand for the match at the Monumental Banco Pichincha stadium, owned by Barcelona Sporting Club.

“We are giving all the facilities for the public to have their tickets. There is a lot of expectation for the National Team, also for the visitors. But let’s remember that we have an authorized capacity of 75%, which is equivalent to about 42,000 tickets; is what we have capacity to sell. We have enabled nine windows in the Modelo stadium and the closed coliseum, with corresponding fencing, private and public security. We ask for patience and proper behavior”, said William Poveda, director of Competitions of the FEF, on the radio microphone Diblu.

Ecuador and Argentina will meet on Tuesday, March 29, on the eighteenth and last date of the South American World Cup.
