Mourinho gives the go-ahead, and Roma should renew with club’s standout midfield

One of Roma’s top players, midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan is expected to have his contract renewed. According to Calciomercato, from Italy, the team’s coach, José Mourinho, wants to count on the midfielder and gave the go-ahead for the renewal to proceed.

Currently 33 years old, Mkhitaryan has a link with the Italian club until June this year, when the European season ends.

The Armenian arrived in the Italian capital in 2019, after stints at Arsenal, Manchester United, Borussia Dortmund, Shakhtar Donetsk, among others.

Since signing, Mkhitaryan has played 107 games and scored 27 goals. Of these games, 34 were played in the current season, with three goals and seven assists.

Also according to information from the Italian newspaper, the midfielder currently receives around four million euros a year, but the renewal proposal provides for a salary reduction of 50%.
