The Russian national judo team has suspended participation in competitions under the auspices of the IJF and EJU
The Russian judo team has suspended participation in international competitions. This was reported on the website of the Russian Judo Federation.
The team will not take part in competitions under the auspices of the International Judo Federation (IJF) and the European Judo Union (EJU). The decision was explained by significantly difficult access to most countries and ensuring the safety of Russian athletes.
Earlier, the IJF allowed Russian athletes to take part in international tournaments in a neutral status. At the same time, the organization canceled all tournaments in Russia.
On February 28, the International Olympic Committee called for the non-admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in international tournaments. The organization motivated the recommendation by the desire to protect the integrity of the competition and the safety of its participants. After that, most of the sports federations of the world refused to allow the Russians and Belarusians to the tournaments.
