Dynamo Kiev coach urged to allow the Russians to international tournaments

Dynamo Kiev coach Lucescu did not agree with the suspension of Russian athletes

The head coach of Dynamo Kiev Mircea Lucescu, who previously worked at Zenit, called for the Russians to be allowed to participate in international tournaments. He shared his opinion on the air of Radio Anch’io Sport.

“For me, sport has nothing to do with politics,” he stressed. The coach explained that he considers the decision to remove the Russians from the starts wrong. Lucescu stated that people should continue to compete, regardless of their country of origin.

Earlier, the head coach of the English Premier League club Tottenham, Antonio Conte, called the decision to remove Russian athletes from international competitions sad and unfair. “It is very sad that this situation is affecting football and the sports world. I understand the work Russian athletes do every day to compete,” he added.

On February 28, the International Football Federation (FIFA) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) excluded Russian teams and clubs from international tournaments. Thus, the Russian national football team lost the chance to participate in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
