Małysz reveals that PZN pressed for a change of coach during the season
It cannot be denied that the championship was successful for us. Just like the whole season in which Polish jumpers do not play the leading roles. The exception was one competition during the Olympic Games, in which Dawid Kubacki won the bronze. All this means that more and more is being said about changes in the white and red staff.
– Yes, there must be some changes, you need to introduce a bit of freshness. I certainly wouldn’t want to reveal who it will be now. Or who will be replaced – he said on TVP after Saturday’s struggle in Norway. The director of jumping and combinations at PZN did not want to name the coaches with whom he spoke. On Sunday, however, he revealed that the future of Michał Doleżal was in doubt during the season.
– Earlier, in the middle of the season, the pressure to change the coach was very big – he did not hide in an interview with the public broadcaster Ma³ysz. – The stewards were a bit angry because they didn’t get the answer, what the coach and the staff want to do to make it better. There was driving from competition to competition and no quiet training, he continued. Let us remind you that Orzeł from Wisła has been saying from the beginning of the season that taking part in competitions when there is no form makes no sense at all. He recommended quiet workouts.
Soon there will be a meeting with the management board of PZN. The Czech coach will explain the intricacies of the season, but he will certainly also present an action plan for the future. – There was a bit of helplessness in all of this, including mine. More than once I tried to convey to the coaches that they should make some decisions earlier – recalls Adam Małysz. The situation was so nervous that it also affected Małysz’s condition. – My health deteriorated a bit, because this stress also inflicted on me. It was hard especially in December – confessed the four-time world champion.
