In a situation of concern for problems outside the field, the Chelsea (3rd) got beat Newcastle (14th) in the struggle at home (1-0), thanks to a goal in the 89th minute by German Kai Havertz, and further consolidated its third position, this Sunday, for the 29th round of the Premier League.
Thomas Tuchel’s team was unable to overcome Newcastle’s defense until the final minutes when the Italian-Brazilian Jorginho made a great cross in the area for Kai Havertz, who dominated and surpassed goalkeeper Martin Dúbravka (89).
The victory was controversial, as in the first half Havertz himself was penalized for an elbow with a yellow card that could have been red. The ‘Magpies’ also consider that there was an unmarked penalty on their player Jacob Murphy, which could have complicated the match for the home team.

Chelsea consolidates in third position (59 points) while Newcastle ends a series of nine games without defeats in the championship.
The triumph comes amid an unstable situation affecting the club, which has forced manager Thomas Tuchel to take a stand on his future after the game. “I have no doubts, I will stay until the end of the season. We have to wait day by day because everything can change”, said the Blues coach.
“The club is for sale, but I hope it passes”, he confessed.
On Thursday, the British government announced sanctions against the club’s current owner, Russian Roman Abramovich, who is close to Vladimir Putin. These measures prevent the club from signing players, renewing contracts or selling match tickets.
“There are many people I see worried every day. They have worked at the club for decades, but they are not famous and are worried about the future,” added the coach after his team’s fourth consecutive victory.
