Cristiano Ronaldo scores 806th goal in official matches and breaks Josef Bitsan’s record
Portuguese striker Manchester United Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice in the match of the English Premier League (EPL) against Tottenham Hotspur. This is reported by the correspondent of “Lenta.ru”.
The 37-year-old Portuguese reached the mark of 806 goals scored in official matches. Thus, he broke the record of the Austrian and Czechoslovak footballer Josef Bitsan.
Ronaldo now has 691 goals for the club and 115 for Portugal. Forward “United” tops the list of scorers according to the International Football Federation (FIFA). However, according to the Czech Football Association, the leader is still Bican, who is credited with 821 goals scored.
Bitsan competed at the professional level from 1931 to 1957. The eminent striker was part of the “wunderteam” – the so-called Austrian national team in the mid-1930s. The most productive were the performances of Bitsan as part of the Prague “Slavia”. Defending the colors of the team, he scored 414 goals in 219 matches.
