The effect of this season’s work of jumping is several dozen disqualifications. And not only because of the illegal overalls, as has been the case most often so far, as well as the boots, or even the length and width of the skis. He has developed very different opinions in the community – some people appreciate him and claim that he is trying to be a fair judge in matters of equipment, others, however, accuse him that he is getting lost in what he does.
Mika Jukkara to leave the World Cup? Increasingly louder about possible changes
Before the ski flying World Championships in Vikersund, there were more and more rumors about a possible retirement from the World Cup after the rookie season. Activists from several national ski associations told Sport.pl that fewer and fewer people are interested in working with Jukkara.
Among hardware controllers, his methods were questioned right from the start of the season. W also reportedly began to wonder whether leaving Jukkara in office is a good idea. The biggest problem? That it is difficult to replace him, because there are no more experienced people who could appear in the position of controller.
Jukkara denies: I’m not going to leave
What does Jukkara himself say about his future? – I wonder who is giving this information and heating up the rumors. No, I am not going to leave – points to the Finn. – I just started working and we have a lot to do before the next season. We are already discussing what to change in the equipment inspections and rules, so I am completely surprised by such reports – assesses Jukkara.
The controller itself therefore denies that such a scenario is possible. We also ask the Coordinator of the Continental Cup and a member of the FIS equipment committee, Bernie Schoedler. – Haven’t heard of anything official yet. We have a meeting in Planica, we will probably discuss specific decisions there – points out the Swiss.
The second controller change in two seasons of the World Cup in jumping?
Unofficially, we also learn that the FIS is not considering a change only in the case of Jukkara, but a lot more people dealing with equipment control. Some of them have even been deleted and will not appear on the hills next season. Nobody wants to speak officially about the names, however.
Criticism from various angles fell on Mika Jukkara during the season. Adam Ma³ysz, who at the beginning of the season, was not satisfied with the way he worked. Later, the controller’s submission to those trying to exert unnecessary pressure on him was noticed.
Even his predecessor in this position did not like Jukkara’s behavior. – In my opinion, he should not be in this position. I know better people than him. I think it is understandable, however, that I will not mention who would be in his place. It’s not my job. The last time we spoke was during the Summer Grand Prix competition in Klingenthal in October. I got the impression that I was glad to be gone – an FIS hardware controller who quit his job after 30 years last season. Soon we will see if the jumps will not be the second controller change in just two seasons.
