Borussia Dortmund coach Marco Rose said on Friday that Norwegian striker Erling Haaland, who has been recovering from a muscle injury since late January, could return on Sunday against Arminia Bielefeld for the German Championshipat 1:30 pm (Brasilia time).
“He trained with the team and is one of the options,” said the coach, who added that in the best case scenario the striker will make “a brief appearance”.
With an impressive 80 goals in 79 games for Dortmund, the 21-year-old Haaland has been struggling with injuries this season. His last match was on January 22, against Hoffenheim.
Next Sunday’s opponent, Arminia Bielefeld reported last Tuesday an outbreak of covid-19 at the club, a situation that could cause the postponement of the confrontation with Dortmund, for the 26th round of the Bundesliga.
“A final decision has not yet been made, but I believe we will play,” said Rose, who in turn will not be able to count on Mats Hummels and Raphael Guerreiro, who have tested positive for covid-19.
