The expert announces the end of the Ronaldo and Messi era. It tells who will take their place

Despite being at the football summit for practically the last dozen or so years, the 34-year-old and 37-year-old are slowly leaving the stage. The football fans will not be disappointed, however, as they are now replaced by another outstanding duo – 23-year-old Kylian Mbappe and 21-year-old Erling Haaland.

Neville says Messi and Ronaldo are slowly “ending”

The Sky Sports expert admitted that, according to him, the Argentinian and Portuguese are slowly going to the end of their careers. – Ronaldo and Messi are nearing the end of their careers. This does not mean that they will retire at the end of the season. Knowing their condition and possibilities, they could still play for 3-4 years – said the Englishman.

According to Neville, many clubs today would not choose to buy Ronaldo or Messi. Relegation seems like the wrong word to talk about two great players, but there is no doubt that they are dwindling forces. Right now, for the first time in years, if you were to ask the people the players in the world would have signed, if I could only pick one, no one would say Messi or Ronaldo. They would probably say Mbappe, Mohamed Salah or – he added.

Neville is delighted with Mbappe

In the same statement, Neville marveled at the form. “It reminds me of Thierry Henry, but also has a bit of Cristiano Ronaldo to him. The Champions League and another world championship would crown him and officially replace Messi and Ronaldo, he commented.

The English expert, however, pointed out that Mbappe might not be able to reach the level of Ronaldo and Messi in their best years. – Even if Mbappe reaches its highest possible level, it will not surpass Messi and Ronaldo for at least 12 years. He would have to play at the absolute top level for as long as they both do, ‘he added.

It is true that both Messi and Ronaldo are not recording bad numbers this season, they are definitely weaker than in previous seasons. The Argentinian for PSG has played 25 matches, scoring seven goals and noting 11 assists. The Portuguese, in turn, played for Manchester United 31 matches, in which he scored 15 goals and made three assists.
