This Friday, the Estadio Monumental de Guayaquil, in Ecuador, received a visit from members of CONMEBOL for the beginning of a series of inspections and evaluations both in the stadium and in the city that will host the final of the Liberators 2022, main tournament on the continent.
In its official profile, the Ecuadorian Football Federation showed images of the inspection at the stadium, which is the home of Barcelona de Guayaquil.

The decision will be in a single game, as provided for in the regulations since the 2019 edition, and is scheduled for October 29 this year. So far, only Brazilian clubs have won the trophy in the new final system: the Flamengoin the 2019 season, and the palm trees in the 2020 seasons (final played in 2021) and 2021.
In addition, only four teams have reached the final since the change in the Libertadores regulations, three of them Brazilian, with the right to two national finals. In 2019, Flamengo and River Plate, from Argentina, faced each other in Lima, Peru. In the following season, a classic from São Paulo between Palmeiras and Santosin Maracana.
In 2021, another decision among Brazilians. Palmeiras and Flamengo, champions of previous editions, dueled at the Monumental, in Montevideo, Uruguay.
This year, Brazilians can dream of maintaining their recent hegemony in South America. In all, seven teams from Brazil are already in the group stage and two are still fighting in the Pre-Liberators.
