Carlos Manzur: There is ignorance of the Sports Law and it is Fedeguayas that must carry out the election process in Emelec

The vice president of the Ecuadorian Football Federation, Carlos Manzurit is ratified that according to the Sports Law, the Sports Federation of Guayaswhich is chaired by Roberto Ibáñez, is the one that must carry out the election process in the Club Sport Emelec.

Manzur cites article 153 of the Sports Law, which in its pertinent part establishes: Call for elections. If a leader does not call for elections within the period established in the corresponding regulations and statutes of the respective sports organization, it will be up to the Ecuadorian Olympic CommitteeEcuadorian Paralympic Committee, National Sports Federation of Ecuador, Provincial Sports Federation, National Student Sports Federation and National Federation of Neighborhood and Parish Sports Leagues of Ecuador, where appropriate within the scope of its competence, make the call within thirty days on the expiration date of the mandate.

Manzur adds that the Law is not reviewed, there is ignorance. “Clubs are multi-sport organizations. They are not only soccer, but the same duty would have all the federations for the sport that that club practices. Where the Ecuadorian federations intervene is in everything related to their sport. And always will maintain the right to accept or not the acts of the clubs. They cannot change or cancel them, but they are free to accept what they decide or not. Just like Conmebol or FIFA do.”

The director points out: “Affiliation and belonging to sports organizations is voluntary. We are part because we want to be part of that entity. And if we don’t comply with their rules, they kick us out, period.. The State, on the other hand, annuls or even he reforms his acts because he is the one who gave them legal personality”.

“What people don’t think about is that it is wrong to think that the FEF should intervene in club elections that will later vote to elect the president of the FEF. That would be a source of corruption. Clubs must be free to freely choose presidents of their federations. Those should be the principles that should prevail.” (D)
