The head of the IOC Bach said that he would continue to expose those responsible for the violation of the truce
President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach made a new statement about sanctions against Russian sports. His words are given on the website of the organization.
“We will continue to expose the people and organizations responsible for violating the Olympic Truce,” Bach said. He stressed that sporting events should not take place on the territory of Russia or Belarus, as this is contrary to the Olympic values based on peaceful coexistence.
The head of the IOC refused to consider the sanctions against Russian sports politicized. In his opinion, “one who grossly violates the Olympic Truce (…) cannot regard the consequences as politically motivated.”
On February 28, the IOC called for the non-admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in international competitions. The executive committee of the organization motivated the recommendation by the desire to ensure the protection of the honesty of the competitions and the safety of their participants. After that, most of the sports federations of the world refused to allow the Russians and Belarusians to the tournaments.
