The coach of Russian lugers said that the athletes were left without sledges after the Olympics
Russian lugers were left without equipment before the start of the Russian Championship. This was told to TASS by the head coach of the national team Sergei Chudinov.
“The entire Russian Olympic luge team, a month after the performance at the Olympic Games in Beijing, still cannot receive their equipment,” Chudinov shared. He explained that the sled was delivered to Europe, but due to problems with air traffic, they could not be transported from Austria to Russia.
The coach added that the team is looking for ways out of this situation. Due to the lack of inventory, the leaders of the national team, who played at the Games in Beijing, may miss the Russian championship.
The only award at the 2022 Olympics was won by Tatyana Ivanova, who competes in the women’s single sledge. She became the bronze medalist, losing only to the Germans Natalie Geisenberger and Anna Berreiter. Also at the Games were single skaters Roman Repilov, Semyon Pavlichenko and Alexander Gorbatsevich. In pairs, Russia was represented by Alexander Denisiev and Vladislav Antonov, Andrei Bogdanov and Yuri Prokhorov.
